A disaster. What now?

And then one day it turns out you can't go back to your house because there's a gas cloud, asbestos has been released, a plane crashed, a tanker exploded, etc.

You try to call your partner, but no luck. Everyone else is calling too, and the lines are overloaded. Your children are almost on their way home from school. How will they find you? How will you find your partner?

Agree on several meeting points with your family: somewhere to gather if you cannot enter your neighbourhood, and somewhere else if your entire district is inaccessible. Staying with family or friends is ideal, but if none live in a suitable location, choose another clear meeting point. Practise with your children how to get there from school, the sports field and other places.

Also agree on a meeting point outside your town in case of a major disaster.
